Diana Vreeland
"It's to die," the chic lady said. "To die" is an expression
used only by chic ladies in New York, and it is thought
to have been invented by Diana Vreeland, who was
the editor of Vogue."My dear, it's to die," she would say
in her husky voice, and mean that some thing was divine,
or possibly the cat's pajamas. Other chic ladies have been
saying it ever since.
